Imo Ex-Lawmaker Urges Peace In PDP
The immediate past
legislator representing Okigwe South at the House of Representatives, Abuja, Professor Chudi Uwazuruike, has called on all factional leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sheathe their sword and allow an everlasting peace to return once more to the party in order to strengthen them for the next political contest.
He made the appeal while having a chat with some journalists at his country home, Umunakanu, in Ehime-Mbano Local Government, Imo State.
The former lawmaker stressed the need for the party hierarchy to find a lasting solution to the existing political rift, noting that the party would soon come out stronger.
He stated that political onflict or crisis is healthy in political activities in both Nigeria and other climes.
Uwazuruike dismissed insinuations that he had withdrawn from active poltics, saying that he is still an active member of PDP, but confirmed his little absence from politics in pursuit of his normal academic research work as an academician.
In response to the loss of Imo North Senatorial seat by PDP’s Senator Attan Nneji Achonu to his APC opponent, Rt. Hon. Ben Uwajumogu (former Imo Speaker), Uwazuruike expressed surprise at the result, stressing that PDP was studying the result in readiness to challenging it at the appropriate quarters.
Describing PDP’s loss in the re-run election as an aspect of a political game which could happen to anybody, he noted that one could “win in some and lose in some”.
The ex-lawmaker said PDP is very accommodating with firm belief in adequate zoning principle and reformation.
