Ex-NUT Boss Lauds Wike On School Sports

A former Chairman
of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Rivers State, Chief Godfrey Nwogu has commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for reintroducing sports at the Primary School level in the state.
Nwogu made the commendation at Eberi the headquarters of Omuma Local Government Area at the median edition of Unity Sports Competition for all Primary Schools in the LGA held recently.
The former NUT boss noted that with the reintroduction of sports, pupils interest in education has been rekindled and urged every local government areas to take the issue of primary schools sports seriously and with same spirit as the governor for the interest of sports development.
He reiterated that past administration failed to recognize sports for the children in primary schools thereby making education less attractive for the pupils.
The Acting Executive Secretary, Education Board in the area, Mr. Christian Nwalozie, expressed satisfaction with the interest and quality representation by the participating schools and commended organisers for job well done.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Organising Committee of the competition, Mr. Jonathan Mark, had during his welcome speech lauded the state governor for interest shown in sports development at the basic levels of education and promised that Omuma would use the event to showcase talents.
He praised Eze Sylvanus Ogbueri, the Onwa nagbara Oha 1 of Etcheland for donating three trophies for the competition and challenged other privileged sons and daughters in the area to emulate the royal father.
State Primary School Ohim/Oyoro emerged the overall winner with 227 points, the second position went to State School Umuajuloke with 184 points while State School Eberi took the third position with 138 points.
