Former Nigeria
international, Sam Sodje, has warned the country not to expect much from coach Samson Siasia-led U23 team at the Rio Olympics as they remained stranded at their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, USA as at yesterday.
The former Charlton Athletics defender said that Nigerians always crave for trophies and medals but a chaotic build-up by the Dream Team have towards Rio 2016 shows they are not ready for gold.
“I am surprised that a team who will play their opening game of the Olympics on Friday (today) are still in USA by Thursday (yesterday),” he said.
“This team have not been well treated by the authorities and Nigerians should not expect miracle from the team that doesn’t have the best of preparation and no motivation.
“The FA keep saying no money, they owe coaches and no allowances for the players. The NFF have no clue, claiming no money to cater for players and coaches, but have money to host FIFA president while pretending everything is good.”
