CAF Champions League: ‘Enyimba Not Good Enough’
Enyimba lost 1-0 to hosts Zamalek in Alexandria in a match they needed to win to stand any chance of qualifying to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The seven-time Nigeria’s champions remain pointless after three rounds of matches.
“We tried our best but it was not good enough. We will move on from this,” said Mfon Udoh.
Udoh, for one, could not reproduce the form in the qualifying rounds of the competition during which he fired seven goals.
“I did not have enough playing time in the group stage and so I could not score more goals,” he said.
Enyimba conceded four goals with only Dare Ojo scoring their only goal in the group stage of the Champions League.
They host Group B winners, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in a final dead-rubber group game in a fortnight.
‘The People’s Elephant’ will play for pride against Sundowns in Port Harcourt.
