The Deputy Governor
of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has called on the people of the state to extend the usual traditional Rivers hospitality to the delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the state plays host to the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt, today.
Banigo said the hosting of the National Convention of the party, the second in the series this year, underscores the strategic position of Rivers State in the socio-economic   and political development of the nation.
The deputy governor while applauding the choice of Port Harcourt for the National Convention, congratulated Governor Nyesom Wike for playing host to the all-important national event in his capacity as the Chairman of the National Convention Committee of  PDP and expressed confidence that the party will come out stronger and better despite its challenges.
Banigo while wishing the delegates a fruitful and blissful stay in Port Harcourt, advised them to consider the over all interest of the party and Nigerians above every other consideration in all their deliberations during the convention, stressing that no nation can progress without a viable opposition party.
