Banigo Charges Christians On Cultism

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has stressed the need for the church and religious organisations to collaborate with the state government in the rehabilitation of repentant cultists in the state.
Banigo, who made the remarks while addressing members of the Otapha Christian Council at Government House, Port Harcourt, during a courtesy visit, explained that prayer by the church was necessary to guarantee peace and engender development in the state.
Represented by her Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Barr Ishmael Blue-Jack, the Deputy Governor, reiterated the present administration’s resolve to partner with the church and other religious organizations towards seeking spiritual solution in efforts to reduce the incidence of cultism and kidnapping.
She stressed the need for churches to continue to offer constant prayers for the peace and stability of the state and nation at large.
The deputy governor, who commended the organization for promoting the gospel in the past six decades, urged them to always pray for the state government to enable it grow from strength to strength.
Earlier in an address presented by the Secretary of the Otapha Christian Council, Mr. Ereledye Igoy, the body had commended the deputy governor for her support for the spread of the gospel describing her as a worthy ambassador of Christ.
Presenting an award of excellence to the deputy governor, the Chairman of the Otapha Christian Council, Prince Victor Umor Emmanuel, said Banigo has promoted the growth of Christianity in several ways, and appealed to other public officers to emulate her good example.
