…As PDP Candidate Reminds INEC Of Injunction
The Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Oyigbo/Tai/Eleme Federal Constituency, Mr Jacobson Nbina, says there is a court order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from announcing the March 19 rerun elections results in Tai Local Government Area.
He stated this while reacting to the pronouncement of INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Operations, Mrs Amina Zakari said that the Tai result is still valid.
“The said matter is before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. There is an interlocutory injuction restraining INEC from announcing any result. I am surprised that the INEC Commissioner would go ahead to pronounce the Tai result as valid”, he said.
He recalled that the president Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr Aniechi Ikoiwak had suspended the election following the Area’s Electoral Officer’s report that INEC’s sensitive materials were hijacked in the middle of the election amidst widespread violence and kidnapping.
