Army Arrests 142 Suspects In Rivers
In a concerted effort
to rid the state of criminal elements, the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has arrested 142 suspected criminals during a raid on their hide outs across the state.
Parading the suspects in Port Harcourt over the weekend, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Capt Eli Lazarus said 15 of the suspects would be handed over to other security agencies for prosecution.
The 2 Brigade spokesperson said the operation took place Saturday morning within the Township axis in Port Harcourt metropolis adding the operation was a routine raid carried out to sanitise the state from criminalities.
“According to him, after interrogation 127 suspects were released, while 15 are still under-going interrogation and will be handed over to the police, DSS and NDLEA for further investigation.
He lauded members of the public for their cooperation and understanding and urged them to continue to support the security agencies in the state to ensure safety of life and property.
