The Nigeria Labour Con
gress (NLC), Anambra State chapter, has called for the cooperation of affiliate bodies to better workers’ welfare in the state.
The NLC Chairman, Mr Jerry Nnubia told our correspondent in Awka that it had become imperative to come together for a beneficial common front.
“There must be synergy for our benefit in the labour movement,’’ he said.
According to him, it is a practice in the labour movement that if any affiliate body had any issue with government such should be brought to the knowledge of the NLC.
Nnubia, while reacting to some accusations that the union hardly support affiliate bodies to resolve issues with government, said that NLC was established to solve workers’ problems.
“If you have any workers’ issue with government, NLC is ready for amicable solution. Let us work together to achieve a better result,’’ the Edo labour chief said.
The unionist lauded Gov. Willie Obiano for the prompt payment of workers’ salary in spite of the present economic realities in the country.
Nnubia appealed to the workers to continue to support the state government by coming to work regularly and to be productive for improvement of the state’s economy.
