The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has restated the commitment of his administration to enthrone sanity in the state.
Wike, who stated this at a dinner outreach organised by Christ the Redeemers Friends International, said the violence that had characterised the state before the assumption of office of the present administration was being tackled head-on.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, the governor said that the current war against cultism and kidnapping was a deliberate effort by the government to rid the state of crimes and criminality.
“We now have a government in Rivers State that will make the people rejoice as the state will never be the same again,” he stated.
The governor commended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for the vision to reach out to eminent personalities in the society, and thanked the church members for their continuous prayers for the government.
Earlier, the guest preacher and General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, had said that life without Christ was full of crisis, stressing that for anyone to have salvation, he must be born again and profess Christ.
Speaking on the theme: “Let My People Rejoice”, Ibiyeomie advised those in leadership positions to imbibe responsible leadership qualities, and show greater interest in the affairs of the citizens, saying that it was only those who make the people rejoice that are relevant in the society.
In her exhortation, the wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Folu Adeboye, said the programme was aimed at winning more souls for Christ.
