RSUST Drama Clash Records Unprecedented Turn Out

sity of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt drama concert tagged, ‘Drama Clash’ which was held recently at the university’s Chapel of Redemption recorded an unprecedented turn out of students and guests within and outside the state.  Speaking with The Tide Entertainment after the event, the organizer, Mr Christopher Owubokiri,  gave thanks to God for his grace which led to the huge success of the event despite their financial and logistics challenges.
He said this year’s edition was unique because of the increase in the number of groups that participated as well as the unprecedented large turnout of the students.  He disclosed that over 2000 students of the institution were in attendance and watched their colleagues display their talent in drama, music and dance as well as comedy.  He explained that the maiden edition which held in 2014 had only few theatre groups that participated and the crowd was not encouraging, but this year they had six theatre groups that participated and greater number of students turned out for the event.
The organizer said the improvement so far recorded shows that people have started to appreciate upcoming talents and their efforts to keep the flag flying in the industry.
He appealed to government and the university community to support the young talents to enable them achieve greater heights.
Among the theatre groups that participated were Ginger, Master, Arise and Shine, Transfiguration, Gospel Renaissance and Creative theatres.  The winners of the drama groups included Ginger theatre – first position, while the second and third positions went  to Masters and Transfiguration theatres respectively.
Other winners are Rebert Karibi (Best Actor), Hallel Ichendu (Best Actress), Ginger theatre won best comedy, best epic and most committed theatre, while the best contemporary went to Masters theatre and the Gospel theatre emerged winners in the best costume category.
