Rivers Police Foil Bank Robbery
The Rivers State Police command said it foiled a bank robbery attack at First Bank along Rumuola Road, Port Harcourt, yesterday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni, in a release, said the police intercepted the hoodlums following a distress call, adding that the armed robbers were over-powered by the policemen who arrived the scene and engaged them in a shoot out. He added that the police action forced the robbers to abandon their operation and ran for safety.
The statement urged the people of the state and residents of Rumuola community to go about their normal businesses as adequate security has been provided.
The statement further urged members of the public to continue to support the police in its determination to rid the State of criminal elements.
