Police Nab Suspected Gang Leader

A sigh of relief may have come the way of the people of Ahoada and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of the state, following the arrest of a suspected gang leader, ThankGod Victor by the Rivers State Police command, yesterday.
ThankGod Victor was alleged to be the leader of deadly and dangerous cult group suspected to have been unleashing terror within the Orashi, Ekpeye and Egi kingdoms in the state in recent times.
In a press release signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni alleged that the arrested suspect was responsible for the killing of a Police Corporal, Oyong Obla at Erema/Ndoni in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area on April 19, this year.
The statement also said that late Corporal Oyong Obla was serving with the anti-kidnapping unit in Omoku Division, adding that the suspected cult kingpin was arrested on Monday evening following a tip-off.
The police Spokesperson used the opportunity to assure the people of Ahoada and ONELEGA of adequate security in their areas and assured that the other members of the gang would soon be arrested.
In a related development, the Rivers State police command says it has arrested a suspected member of another dangerous Green Landers  cult group (aka Degbam) alleged to have been terrorising Emohua and its environs.
The PPRO in a release gave the name of the arrested suspect as  31-year old, Omunakwe Uchendu, adding that the suspect was apprehended about 10pm at Rumuohia in Emohua LGA following information from members of the public.
The Police alleged that the suspect was among hoodlums causing carnage in Emohua.
“He is the Second-in Command of Green landers Cult (aka Degbam) at Rumuohia Emohua” the police alleged, adding that the suspect had been on the command’s wanted list for officers including robbery and kidnapping.
DSP Omoni said investigation was on-going on the matter and that the suspect had made useful statement regarding his activities in the area.
He used the medium to restate the command’s effort in eradicating crimes and other anti-social activities in the State.
