Man, 20, Docked Over Handset Theft
A 20 year-old man,
James Samuel, has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing HTC Desire 820 G plus handset.
The accused was arraigned on a two count charge of stealing and felony with charge No: PMC 1408C/2016 before Chief Magistrate S.D. Andrew-Jaja.
The police prosecuting officer, Inspector Wilson Isaiah, told the court that the accused and others now at large on the 12th day of July, 2016, at Slaughter Round-about Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt District, did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit: stealing.
The police prosecuting officer also told the court that the accused on the same date and place in the afore said magisterial district did steal HTC Desire 820 G plus valued at fifty thousand Naira N50,000 property of one Humphrey Ebenezer and added that the accused committed an offence punishable under section 516(A) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. II, laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to all the two count charge brought against him.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Chief Magistrate Court 4, S.D. Andrew-Jaja granted the accused bail of N50,000, one surety in the sum and added that the surety who must reside in Port Harcourt must deposit one passport photograph and that the prosecutor must verify the address of the surety.
He later adjourned the case to 27th July, 2016 for hearing.
