Leverage On Amnesty Offer, Banigo Urges Cultists
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has enjoined criminals and cultists to take advantage of Governor Nyesom Wike’s amnesty offer by renouncing crime, and turn a new lease to avoid the unpleasant consequences of their action.
Banigo, who stated this in a statement through her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, noted that the recent demolition of the homes and hideouts of notorious cultists and kidnappers, who have been terrorising the state, signals the political will of the governor to invoke the relevant laws against criminal elements in the state.
The deputy governor stated that the decision of Wike to take the action was to ensure that criminal elements are rooted out to restore sanity, peace and security, which are strategic to the economic prosperity of the state.
Banigo advised those who take delight in perpetrating heinous crimes to have a rethink in their own interest, stressing that the state was no more conducive for criminals as the government has put in place necessary logistics to combat crime in partnership with security operatives.
She emphasized that the only way the enabling environment created by government would attract investors, is when the safety of lives and property of business operators are guaranteed.
She called on the good people of Rivers State to continue to co-operate and support government policies and programmes while parents should prevail on their children and wards to shun criminal tendencies and avoid vices.
