FRSC Tasks Commands On DSSP Web Portal
All sector commands
of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), have been directed to commence full utilization of the revamped Driving Schools Standardisatin Programme (DSSP) web portal online application of driving schools operators, and instructors nationwide.
The sector Head of Training Standards and Certification (TSC), of FRSC, Rivers Command, Joel Odewoye dropped the hint during a stakeholders forum on DSSP on-line web Application Portal held at the corps conference hall, Aba Road Port Harcourt recently.
Odewoye opined that the DSSP is an initiation of the corps which specifies the minimum operational standards, adding that its mandate is to eradicate road traffic crashe by ensuring that all motorists and road users are properly trained.
He noted with dismay that in recent times some driving schools had been operating illegal while others initially approved by the FRSC have gone below standards, thereby compromising on the minimum operational requirements.
According to him, the activities of these driving schools if not checked would churn out half-baked drivers that will contribute to the daily road crashes, stressing that such would no longer be acceptable as it is against the spirit of DSSP.
Odewoye expressed worry that the activities of the illegal driving schools that does not meet the minimum standards still lingered on despite all efforts by the corps to curb the anomalies, and explained that the DSSP on-line portal scope include update driving school profile, enroll trainee drivers, update training hours and generate certificate.
He advised the stakeholders to update their vehicles and instructors, fill forms for physical inspection of their driving schools that would be conducted and countersigned by officers for final upgrade. He enjoined all to ensure strict compliance inorder to ensure that both the vehicles and their instructors are available during the inspection.
