Four Men In Custody Over Robbery

Magistrate has remanded in prison custody four accused persons for an alleged robbery and other crimes.
The accused persons, Ayodele Slima, 33, from Ondo State, Samuel Obechi, 25, from Benue, Ikem Udegbunam, 27, from Enugu and Buhari Usen, 27 from Nasarawa State are standing trial on four count charge bordering on robbery, possession of dangerous weapons, purchase of stolen property before Chief Magistrate Court 13, Betty Sunny Hart wth charge sheet no PMC 1461C/2016.
The prosecuting police officer, inspector Godwin Nwinam alleged that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd accused persons on the 22nd of May, 2016 at Obiri-Ikwerre junction, Port Harcourt, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit: armed robbery.
The police prosecutor also alleged that the accused persons on the same date and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, while armed with gun and other dangerous weapons did rob one Monday Benson Udo (M) of his Toyota Camry Salon Car with registration Number EJ743 ABJ valued Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N900,000.00).
He further told the court that the three accused persons on the 28th, May 2016 at Nkpolu Port Harcourt, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did receive one Toyota Camry Salon Car with Registration Number SAG 252 BZ properties of one Chukwuebuka J. Durunuva (M) valued  at Nine Hundred Thousand Naira  (N900,000.00).
Inspector Nwinam further alleged that the 4th accused person, Buhari Usen (M) on the 14th day of June, 2016 at Eneka Port Harcourt, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did receive one Mazda 232 Car with registration Number CJ 545 Eky, properties of one John Wobo (M) valued at Six Hudred “Thousand Naira (N600,000.00) adding that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 6(b), 1(2) (a) (b) of the Robbery and Firearm Special Provisions Act Cap R11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and section 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. II Laws of Rivers State.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Betty Sunny Hart while remanding the accused persons to prison custody ordered that the original case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution  for legal advice on the matter.
She later adjourned the matter to 5th August, 2016.
