Firm Tasks Govt On Facility Management
A facility management
company, Eliezer Workplace Management Limited, has challenged the Nigerian government to give the industry a push so as to make it contribute effectively to the development of the country.
The Managing Director of the organisation, Mr Benedict Alabi, made the call during a press briefing in Lagos, recently.
Alabi stated that facility management industry had the task of preserving assets and infrastructure, adding that they also need to revive decaying infrastructures.
According to him, “First and for most, good facility management helps preserve source of the country’s biggest assets, buildings, plant and equipment. We make sure that they are properly maintained to deliver the necessary services required”
“Secondly , good facility management helps staff to work in a healthy environment that aids better productivity, thirdly, a good facility manager will ensure that the chemicals being used to clean a workplace are not harmful and hazardous to the occupants and property”, he continued.
He further added that for organsiations that engaged the services of many contractors they have the burden of managing many invoices and people, adding that for instance security companies will have a security supervisor, and electrical company needs electrical supervisor but if you get everything to a facility manager, only one person will be supervising all these activities for you because they are working under the same umbrella”.
He also said, “a good facility manager also helps the clients to focus on their core competences, which on its own creates specification for them and allows them to be more productive.
He noted that the facility management association in Nigeria has been working assiduously to get the industry to be a chartered institute so that it can contribute to national development.
