‘Families Are Building Blocks Of Society’

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has called on married couples to pay more attention to building their families as the revival of the country depends on well-nurtured families.
Speaking during the wedding of Mr and Mrs Abel Tariah in Port Harcourt at the weekend, Wike said that children who come from responsible homes hardly deviate from the path of righteousness, discipline and excellence.
The governor said  as long as children are properly trained at the level of  families,  vices such as cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery will be reduced  to  the  barest minimum.
He expressed happiness that Mr and Mrs Abel Tariah have good and responsible family backgrounds, which prepared them to contribute meaningfully to the peace and development of the state.
He said that the bride groom, who is the son of a late Judge and the bride, who is the daughter of former acting National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, must build on the successes of their parents by training up their children in the way of God.
He said: “Build your marriage  on the word of God.  Don’t bother about the advice from your friends. A marriage built on God will always survive and impact the society positively”.
While noting that his administration has always worked for the success of families in the state, the governor assured the newly wedded couple of his support at all times.
In his remarks, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, who was chairman of the occasion, described marriage as a God-ordained institution meant to develop the  society.
He charged the newly wedded couple to sink whatever background and professional differences they have and root their marriage in God.
Important  dignitaries  at the wedding include: Governor Nyesom Wike and his wife,  Justice Eberechi, Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson and his wife, members of the National Assembly, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rivers State Executive Council, the PDP national caretaker committee, local government caretaker committees, and leaders of the business community.
