The Chairman of Obio/
Akpor Local Government Area,  Prince Collins Onunwo has promised traders at Rumuokoro and other business operators that  better days await them.
Onunwo, who gave the assurance  when he received Governor Nyesom  Wike in Rumuokoro Ward 7, said the hard times the traders were currently experiencing were a result of bad economic policy being initiated by the All Progressives Congres.
The  council boss  urged traders to stop doing business on the roads  and assured that the state governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are working to make life better for all  irrespective of tribe and creed.
He appealed to them to continue to support the administration of  Governor Wike as he and PDP mean well for the people of Obio/Akpor, Rivers State and Nigeria.
Governor  Wike had told the traders that road and street trading will no longer be tolerated and that anyone caught would be prosecuted.
He said: “I am here to personally talk to you because I know the level of support I got from the markets during the last elections. Therefore, all my actions are geared towards improving the environment where you do business.
“I know that you are on the road to seek your daily upkeep. But it should not be at the expense of other road users and your own wellbeing.”
The governor stated that the street traders along Rumuodomanya Road will be moved to a location provided by the community and assured that the new market will be ready in two months.
