The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) branch of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUCPTRE) has threatened to shut the agency over 10 months’ unpaid salaries.
Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the union Chairman, Mr. Justice Eleru, said that the staff have not been paid for over 10 months.
He said that, this situation was affecting the staff as most of them can no longer meet their obligations to their respective families.
Eleru said that the union was considering shutting down the agency until their salaries are paid.
The union Chairman urged the state government to intervene in the matter as the situation was affecting the wellbeing of their families.
He, however, restated the union’s loyalty to the policies and pragrammes of the state government.
The Acting Executive Director of the agency, Mr. Larry Pepple, who addressed the workers later, urged them to remain patient as the management was doing everything possible to address the situation.
Pepple also urged them to go back to work and avoid acts inimical to peace.
