Ugwuanyi Unveils IMT Board

Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has inaugurated the reconstituted Governing Council of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Speaking at the event at the Government House executive council chambers, Ugwuanyi urged the members to take the institute to a higher level of academic pursuit.
He said the board was reconstituted in response to the urgent need to fill the vacuum created in the administrative structure of the institution.
The governor said that his administration had continued to place high premium on the revitalisation of educational institutions in the state.
“As a first generation polytechnic, IMT has been one of the prominent centres for manpower and technological development.
“However, our intension is to take it to higher level of qualitative education.
“We have taken pains to select individuals of higher academic and professional repute, experience and competence to bring our goals to fruition,” he said.
Ugwuanyi said that his administration had set in motion a process to upgrade IMT to degree awarding institution.
He said that the government would partner with the board to accomplish the task.
Responding, the Chairman of the board, Dr Festus Uzor, thanked the governor for the opportunity given members to serve the state in that capacity.
He promised that the board would do its best to ensure that IMT exceled in all areas of study and relationships.
“On behalf of the members of the board, I thank you for the uncommon opportunity given us to improve learning in the institution.
“We hope to meet IMT well and make it better. Working with this team, we shall do our best to improve the institution,” Uzor said.
Our correspondent reports that other members of the board are: Dr Emmanuel Igiri, Mr Cyril Aninwike, Prof. Augustine Nweze (Rector) and Mr David Onwuegbu.
The rest are Prof. Gabriel Agbo, Dr Innocent Eze and Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education.
