Rivers UBE Unit Elects New Officers

nior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Universal Basic Education (UBE) Unit of Rivers State, has elected Comrade Dagogo Alabo as its interim chairman.
Others elected include, Comrades Scholastic Osaroeji-vice chairman, Obinna Okparaolu-Secretary, Gift George-will-Treasurer and Godwin Izoma-Ex-officio member.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Boards’ Conference Hall in Port Harcourt, the state Chairman of the association, Comrade Austin Jonah, enjoined the interim executives to work in synergy with the management for higher productivity, stressing that gone were the days of antagonism as dialogue is the best option in settling issues.
Jonah, who was represented by Comrade Ezekiel Amachree appealed to the management to always ensure that workers welfare and environment were given priority attention for a cordial working relation, and also urged them to look into the issue of stagnation of some staff, salary discrepancies and promotions among others.
He stressed the importance of unionism describing the RSUBEB Unit Interim executive as a destination union members and charged them to take the union to a greater height.
Also speaking, the state Secretary of the association, Comrade Barshman Adesina, commended the union members who are yet to be part of the union for their doggedness that had brought the long battle to an end, and advised the union members that they are in a wrong place.
Adesina, who highlighted the activates and membership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), further enjoined them to work deligently to achieve the benefits of unionism before the election proper would be conducted.
In his remarks, the Public Relations Officer of RSUBEB, Dr. Amina Fiberesima assured the union executive of Cordial working relationship between management and the union charged them to live up to expectation.
Fiberesima advised them not to be confrontational with management but ensure that issues, were channeled appropriately as management is union friendly and congratulate them for their election.
In his acceptance speech, the interim chairman of the Association, Comrade Dagogo Alabo Commended the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education.
Board, Dame Josephine Chukwuigwe for her matured handling of affairs of the Board, and thanked her for creating an enabling environment for the peaceful conduct of the inauguration of RSUBEB unit of the association.
Alabo, who described the occasion as epoch as it climaxed the long struggle, stressed that the association had proven itself to be an “Iroko in the midst of shrubs”.
The new union boss expressed delight with the leadership of the body, and pleaded to carry out responsibilities with due diligence to further the interest of the workers and the union inorder to enhance good working relationship, adding that they would strive to synergise with management to engender high moracles, increased productivity and harmony.
