Rivers Tennis Player To Represent Africa In Morocco

nis player, Timipre Maxwell of Kodian Tennis Foundation, Rivers State is to represent West and Central Africa in a forthcoming tennis tournament scheduled to hold in Morocco during the long vacation.
The rising female tennis star, a student of Oro-Worukwo Community Secondary School, Port Harcourt got the ticket to represent Africa during the ITF Junior Tennis tournament held in Abuja, early this year.
Speaking on this achievements in Port Harcourt the co-ordinator of Kodian Tennis Foundation,  Stella Epegu said the major challenge facing the player was sponsorship, and appealed to the state government, co-operate organisations and sports lovers to assist in sponsoring the player, who also won Silver and was awarded the Most valuable Player (MVP) at the 10th edition of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Junior Tennis Tournament held in Kaduna recently.
Epegu disclosed that other players of the foundation also won gold in the annual CBN tournament for the state.
They include David Dawariye of Faith Baptist College, Amadi – Flat in the under – 14 category boys, Rebecca Ekpenyong of Wesley Girls High School Harbour Road in the under – 12, while Victor Tom – Friday of Seabird Community Secondary school, Old GRA and Fortune Aniso of Faith Baptist College, Amadi Flat, Port Harcourt won Silver in the Under – 14 boys, and under – 16 girls respectively, as well as Amieyeofori Jim-Jaja Wesley Girls High School, Harbour Road who also won Siliver in the under 14-girls category.
She opined that despite her challenges of sponsorship and equipment, she was satisfied to make the state pround, adding that the Foundation will also host free tennis clinic during the long vacation in September at Port Harcourt Club, appealing for sponsorships.
