Motorists Decry Trading On East-West Road

Despite the inherent dan
gers, poised to lives by the trading on the ever busy East-West Road,  the acts have continued  unabated.
Mostly affected are the markets at Elele Alimini and Rumuji  axis all in the Emohua local government  area of the Rivers State.
Some motorists who spoke to The Tide during a recent investigation  said the traders at those areas  took a lot for granted in terms of security of their lives.
A bus driver Monday Joshua, who  plys Yenagoa to  Port Harcourt  while speaking to The Tide urged the local government council authority to take action in order to check the menace.
According to him, instances abound where accidents occurred and claimed  lives as a result of trading  taking  place right on the expressway  rather than inside the  markets  Romeo Benson, a trailer driver, said that apart from the danger posed during the market days at Elele Alimini and Rumuji, maize sellers near SETRACO, yard an outskirt of Ahoada also witnessed accidents as some motorists pack their vehicles indiscriminately and improper  while buying  cooked maize along the road.
The sellers who usually come from Ihuaba, in the Ahoada East local government area trying to outsmart each other in selling their  maize to the motorists.
The Tide investigation showed that some  passengers prevail on drivers to pack their vehicles to enable them buy the boiled maize.
