‘ICT To Stimulate Productivity In Governance’

tion and Communication Technology (ICT) in governance has been said to be one  of the stimulants of transparency , productivity, and efficiency operations in Nigeria.
The minister of communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu stated this at this’s year  Nigeria Digital Sense Forum on internet Governance For Development (IGFD) recently in Lagos.
The Tide learnt that this year’s IGFD forum, has as its theme “Creating Opportunities for All Nigerians”.
The minister who spoke through the Assistant General Manager, Marketing Nigcomsat Mrs Ibiye Membre, said the ministry was bent on creating an enabling environment for interlinking both individuals and government.
Shittu hinted that the industry would ensure that the issues of technologies of the future were upwardly appreciated in due time.
He explained that both Internet   Government for Development and internet protocol version were what he described as forward looking solutions for the nation.
The Tide learnt that Korea, China, Europe, US and other western countries have already embraced the innovation.
He also informed that there are plans to lower the barriers to digitization and increase participation of Nigerian companies in the sector.
According to him, the move will not only improve the country’s ICT status, but will also stimulate job creation.
In his view, the Executive vice chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umaru Danbatta, noted that the mobile broadband would remain the fastest growing telecom market segment with double-digit growth.
Danbatta, who also spoke through a representative, the Deputy Director, Spectrum Administration, NCC, Mr Oluwatoyin Asaju, said NCC would enhance access to internet.
However, he listed some of the targets of the commission as making broadband policy universal, making broadband available in developing countries, connecting homes to broadband and getting people online.
