The Rivers State
Government has been called to critically look into skills acquisition development in order to lasting solution to the issue of unemployment.
The Managing Director, Oha Farms, Port Harcourt, Mr Ejikeme Igwe made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt recently.
Igwe said the call became imperative after considering the high level of unemployed graduates in the state.
Igwe, noted that since the army of unemployed people was more than the employment capacities available, the best way out was to consider skills acquisition development by the government. According to him, if the government can pay more attention to skill development from senior primary school level, to senior secondary school level those involved in the system would have become skillfully balanced.
He explained that such development would enable the government to reduce the number rate of unemployed people in the state.
The farmer who said he was a skilled culver,  noted that in most cases, he made better money from the business than his teaching job.
He also charged parents to be bold and not to shy away from training their children/wards in skill acquisition development.
Furthermore, he said those trained in professional skills stands a better chance than those who did not, adding that skilled people were more self-relevant through the skills acquisition.
Earlier, he lauded the State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike over the high level of development in the state within one year of his administration.
