Community Denies Killing Of Soldiers

nity in Ikwerre Local Government of Rivers State has said that the people of the community have no hands in the killing of soldiers in their area.
The community which made its position during a forum denied that it had a hand in the killing of the soldiers, as prescribed by the law.
The spokesman of the group, Chief Samuel Nwagbara and Chief Oha Onyegbule, said the community will employ all known means to do the needful until the perpetrators are found while calling on the concerned authorities to among other things, deal severely with anyone found culpable, upon a proper investigation.
The group while sympathising with the bereaved families and the military authorities called on the army not to be deterred in the discharge of their responsibilities in the areas.
As an international community, they said they would not condone the activities of criminal elements, hence, the plans to crush criminal elements from the area are underway, adding that in the next forth night, arrangements would be made to invoke ancestral and land spirits.
According to them, such plans was anchored on moves to separate traditional issues from politics, adding that they can communicate with their ancestors anytime.
They equally warned neighbouring communities to be properly guided in a bid to promote their existing harmony.
One group however, lauded the state governor Barr. Nyesom Wike and the caretaker committee chairman of Ikwerre local government, Hon Samuel Nwanosike over their efforts towards fighting crime.
As at the time of filling in this report, about 15 motorcycle have been reported burnt by soldiers in the area, over none compliance on the curfew on them as from 18.30.00 hours till dawn.
