A Port Harcourt based human
rights group, Advocacy for Peace, Social Justice and Good Governance has described peace as a recipe for development.
The Secretary of the body, Barr Okoha Chinonye who stated this while chatting with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend, urged the youths in Rivers State to channel their youthful energies to meaningful and worthwhile ventures.
Barr Okoha noted that the state government was doing well in the provision of infrastructural facilities, which the youths could tap from to engage in meaningful ventures.
He said nobody remained a youth forever and pointed out that whatever one sowed in one’s youth, one would reap at old age.
The Secretary stated that it was unfortunate that some youths were being cut down in their prime as a result of their involvement in cultism.
Barr Okoha said that cultism was not a vocation and expressed regrets that some youths were dedicating all their time to satanic and unrewarding venture like cultism.
According to him, “life is precious and belongs to God alone. Nobody has the right to take the life of another. The only way we can appreciate God for our lives is to fear God and obey his commandments”.
Barr Okoha noted that his organisation had seen the level of moral decadence in the Niger Delta and was willing to go the whole hug to preach peace in the Niger Delta region.
He described the Niger Delta Region as the hub of the Nigerian nation state and stated that if the nation was to move forward peace in the Niger Delta was essential.
Barr Okoha, an indigene of Rivers State called on all stakeholders in the state to join hands in their effort to make a home for all.
He also called on the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to support their organisation in their effort to preach peace to all nooks and crannies of the state.
“The Port Harcourt lawyer said the organisation was ready to work with government and other stakeholders to achieve lasting peace in Rivers and other Niger Delta States.
