Wike’s Leadership Style Excites Ijaw Group

A group of professionals under the aegis of Ijaw Professionals Association (IPA) has expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, especially in the provision of social services and prudent management of resources in Rivers State.
The body, comprising of professionals of Ijaw extraction, gave their assessment of the Wike administration during a courtesy call on the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George in his office in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
National president of the association, Danzil Amagbe Kentebe, who led the delegation, described Governor Wike as a pragmatic leader, who has achieved a lot in Rivers State within one year.
The association also expressed confidence in the appointment of Dr. Tam-George, a core Professional to head the Information and Communications Ministry, which they described as critical to the development of the state.
The President emphasized the need to engage the services of professionals in both public and private sector to check institutional corruption, and assured of the readiness of the body to collaborate with the Rivers State Government in the delivery of professional services.
The association also expressed concern over the security situation in the Niger Delta and Nigeria in general, and urged the states and federal Government to address the issues that lead to crime in the society, and called for the implementation of the UNEP report in Ogoniland.
In his response, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George, thanked the association for the visit, and assured the commitment of Governor Wike to the delivery of quality services to Rivers people.
Tam-George, said the Wike administration was revolutionary and poised to redeem Rivers from the era of mismanagement of public fund, propaganda and falsehood, which he said were the hallmarks of the immediate past administration in the state.
The Commissioner said the Wike administration was committed to fighting crime in the state through a collaborative network.
He called for stability in the appointment of head of security operatives in the state, especially Commissioners of Police, noting that criminals take advantage of such inconsistencies and lay onslaughts on the state.
Tam-George also assured the readiness of the Rivers State Government to partner with the Federal Government in the implementation of UNEP report in Ogoniland, describing Ogoniland as an entry point for the over-all remediation of the despoiled Niger delta environment.
