The Nigeria Rowing
Sailing and Canoe Federation (NRSCF) on Thursday said it had put in place adequate measures to ensure that its athletes excel at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Tidesports reports that Jonathan Akinyemi and Chierika Ukugo have qualified for the Games.
Patrick Egbele, Technical Director of the federation, said in an interview with newsmen that the athletes were preparing adequately in their base outside the country.
“We are preparing Chierika for a training camp in the USA and Akinyemi is presently also training in the UK in preparations for the Olympics.
“There is going to be the final training very close to Brazil before the athletes move to the Olympics camp.
“And of course they have been financially supported presently, they are not missing anything, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports are doing their part, the NOC are equally doing their part and the federation president is also supporting the athletes.
“So, they are not lacking anything for now, we have exposed them to different international championships.’’
Tidesports also reports that Akinyemi was the first athlete to represent the country in the water sport event at the 2012 London Olympics.
The Games would hold from August 5 to August 18.
