The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says the uncommon show of hospitality and peaceful hosting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention in Port Harcourt by the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, in his capacity as the Chairman, National Convention Planning Committee, are eloquent testimonies that Rivers State is a home for visitors and an Investors’ friendly state.
Banigo, who stated this in a press statement through her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, described the convention as a litmus test for the solidity of the party and a rallying point for re-energization of the party towards reclaiming its mandate at the federal level.
The deputy governor lauded the security agencies for providing watertight security during the convention, and expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their friendly disposition to the delegates and visitors to the state.
In a related development, the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has advised students to shun cultism and other vices that are inimical to attaining their full potentials as future leaders.
Banigo gave the warning when the leadership of National Union of Bonny Students (NUBS), paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The deputy governor, who was represented by her Special Assistant on Security, Elder Emmanuel Ibama, advised the students to engage themselves in useful activities to avoid being lured into unwholesome ventures that would affect them and the name of their family.
She enjoined them to see hard work as a pre-requisite for success in life, stressing that no club goer makes first class in his academic pursuit, urging them to justify the money being expended on the training by their parents.
Banigo appealed to the students to always use dialogue and constructively bring their grievances to relevant authorities for necessary action rather than resort to violence that would ultimately affect them negatively.
Earlier, President, National Union of Bonny Students, Mr. Jumbo Golden Idatonye Boma, congratulated the governor and his deputy on their resounding victory at the April 11, 2015, election and the Supreme Court confirmation.
Idatonye Boma lauded Banigo for her numerous achievements in life and becoming the first female deputy governor of Rivers State and the entire South-South geo-political zone.
The student union leader used the opportunity to solicit for assistance in the provision of a bus, office equipment for the secretariat, and support for the forthcoming Education/Health Awareness Campaign programme planned by the students union.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr.  Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has extolled the exemplary qualities of the First Lady of the state and wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Justice Suzzette Eberechi Wike as a strong pillar of support to the governor, women folk and the less privileged in the society.
