‘PDP’ll Win 2019 Polls’
The new Deputy Chair
man of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Mr Charles Awortu, has said that the party will triumph again in 2019 as the party is gradually recovering from the shock of its defeat in the 2015 presidential election in the country.
Awortu gave the assurance in a chat with newsmen immediately after his victory at the just concluded State congress in Port Harcourt.
He said Rivers State is a no-go area for the All Progressives Congress (APC) even in the next 20 years.
According to him, APC had no opportunity to win the last re-run Assembly elections in the state because PDP was on ground at all levels, adding that PDP resisted APC’s plan to rig the elections.
He said “rigging of election don’t easily work out in a place where the party is not popular, hence APC failed in its planned rigging because the party is not popular in the state.”
Awortu, who replaces the former Deputy Chairman of the party, Hon Monwan Etete, thanked the stakeholders and all the delegates for finding him worthy of service to the party in the state.
He promises to work assiduously to the progress of the party in the state.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday held its state congress to elect it’s new officers to pilot the affairs of the party in the state.
The party elected 27 officers with Bro Felix Obuah re-elected as the chairman of party in the state.
Bro Obuah promised to continue taking the party to higher levels in the state.
