A non-government
organisation known as African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) will tomorrow,  inaugurate its chapter  in Rivers State. To this end, AWLO flag will be hoisted  in the beautiful city of Port Harcourt. A statement from the secretariat of the non-governmental organization enjoins all  to join in the exercise.
In a chat with The Tide’s Women Editor, Sylvia ThankGod-Amadi, the Rivers State Coordinator of the body, Mrs Enebeli Ajoke, said members of the organization embarked on an awareness walk on Wednesday as part of the activities for the inauguration of the state’s chapter.
She also hinted that the inauguration would provide a platform for the launch of the #1 Mother 1 Child initiative of AWLO, which is intended to encourage every woman see reason to adopt at least one less-privileged child outside her own biological children as a way of impacting on the society.
According to Mrs Enebeli, the essence of the initiative is to ensure that every woman in leadership position trains up a child from primary school until he or she could be self reliant.
Earlier, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the body in Rivers State, Mrs Akhigbe Doris, explained the mission of AWLO to include the provision of a platform to gather together women in leadership position whether in governmental or not, so as to synergise for the good of the society.
She mentioned that their aim is to mentor other young women who would want to become somebody in the society but lacks what it takes to do so.
