NBA Harps On Lawyer’s Seal

ciation has said that the personal seal of a lawyer with his call number ingraved on it with remain the licence of lawyers to convey property.
A member of Lagos Bar, Barr Abraham Jande, who stated this while speaking with The Tide in a phone chat, said the move had become necessary because of the number of fake lawyers practising across the nation.
He said every deed or agreement franked by a lawyer must bear the personal seal of that lawyer.
He explained that fake lawyers, who did not know what the expenses involved in training a lawyer had cheapened the franking of deeds and agreements.
Barr Jande said that the impersonation by fake lawyers had worsened the economic meltdown for lawyers as they charged paltry sums of money to frank deeds and agreement.
He said the issue of having a personal seal had become serious in Lagos as a means of checkmating the preponderance of fake lawyers.
He said purchasers of land always chose the easy way out by opting for cheaper means of getting their deeds of conveyance done.
Barr. Jande prayed the general public to help the society fish out the fake lawyers.
He said those that demean the legal profession should be brought to book to act as deterrent to others.
