Naval Officer, Rating Abducted In Rivers

A Naval officer
and a rating whose identities could not be identified at the time of this report have been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Rumuji in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the victims were said to be travelling to Delta State. An eye witness said that the kidnappers numbered about 10 laid ambush before the officer and the rating ran into them unknowingly.
A source in the Navy, who confirmed the incident on the condition of anonymity, however told The Tide that the officers were not from the Rivers State command.
The Tide learnt that as at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the kidnapped Naval personnel was unknown, while the kidnappers have not established any contact with the families of the victims or the authorities of the Nigerian Navy.
