Nationwide Clubs Kick Against Representation At Congress

Clubs of the Nationwide League One have kicked against “a controlled” representation at the league’s Annual General Meeting fixed for this week.
There are a total of 156 clubs in the NLO, but a circular dated April 28 and signed by executive secretary Olushola Ogunnowo cited Article 9 sub section 4 as saying a delegate to the congress will represent all the clubs in a state including the FCT.
It is now expected that about 30 delegates will now represent these 156 clubs.
One of the clubs insisted that the article of the statutes cited by the league was never approved by the congress.
“The article they are talking about was never endorsed by the congress, it’s illegal, and so on what basis is this representation?” countered a club official.
“How can 30 persons represent the interests of 156 different clubs simply  because they are based in the same geographical location? It’s a big shame!”
“This is serious manipulation because it means that a state like Kano with 22 clubs in the league will be represented by one person when in actual fact all the clubs have their various issues and challenges,” said another agitated Nationwide club owner
A new governance structure is expected to be approved by the congress at the AGM in Abuja tomorrow despite an agitation by a majority of clubs that elections to the league’s board be conducted before the new season begins.
