Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Nigeria Bar Association, Rivers State, Barrister Akoro George, addressing newsmen at the scene of the killing of two security operatives in Port Harcourt, yesterday.

A Port Harcourt High
Court, presided over by Justice Opara would on May 17, rule on bail application brought by the counsel to the embattled former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree over an alleged murder case.
The former Asari-Toru Local Government council boss standing trial on a two court charge bordering on alleged murder and conspiracy brought against him by the police was later remanded in prison custody by a Chief Magistrate Court on lack for jurisdiction.
Mr Ojukaye Flag-Amachree  pleaded not guilty on the two court charges brought against him at the resumption of the matter at the High Court.
Ruling on the matter, the Judge, Justice Opara while adjourning the matter to 17th May, 2016 for ruling on the bail application urged counsels on the matter to file their responses before the adjourned date.
Speaking to journalists later, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, E. Aguma (SAN), said it all depended on the court to grant the accused bail or not, adding that the accused had been remanded properly and the state had also filed a murder case against him.
In his own response, counsel to the accused, Emenike Ebete said the law was sacrosanct that the accused was innocent until proved otherwise by a competent court of law.
