Despite failing to get
regular playing time, the defender believes he will be given an opportunity soon while tipping his side for glory
Odinga Odinga is pleased to bide his time and wait for his chance to prove his worth to Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma.
The defender joined the Pride of Rivers after Sharks FC was merged with Dolphins Football Club at the beginning of the season.
Odinga has featured twice as a substitute this season but the former Sharks skipper is confident that his chance will arrive soon.
“It has been uneasy not getting regular playing chances with Rivers United and that will not deter me from working very hard during trainings,” Odinga told newsmen.
“Like any footballer, I want to play as much as possible though competition to get playing time is very fierce. I’m at the coach’s disposition and will wait for my chance.
“I wish I can play always 90 minutes but sometimes I have to help for only one minute – all that matter is my team’s success.”
He noted tbat Rivers United’s form over the last one month is proof they can end their wait for silverware.
“We believe that we are good enough with the players we have got and the work we are doing to win the NPFL title,” he continued.
“We know that if we just carry on doing the same thing we will show people that this team and these players are good enough to win a trophy.
“All we must do is keep working hard until our mission is achieved at the end of the season,” he concluded.”
Rivers United are five points behind leaders Enugu Rangers on the Nigeria topflight log.
