The presidential canditate of Hope Democratic Party in the last presidential election in the country, Barrister Ambrose Owuru who made the condemnation in Port Harcourt yesterday in an interview, said the state government and the security agencies need to carry out urgent actions to stop the killings in the state.
Owuru who is also a legal practitioner was reacting to the murder of some private security personnel who were killed onMonday night at the Ministry of Justice. He said there should be an urgent meeting of stakeholders, security agencies and government to proffer solutions to the killings in recent times in the state.
According to him, “all stakeholders need to come together and do something to stem the killings in the state.”
Owuru who is also the founder and two times presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party said killings and other forms of violence in the state should not be handled with kid gloves. He called for proper investigations by the police of any killings in the state, saying those found guilty should be brought to justice.
He welcomed the idea and decision of the Inspector General of Police to dispatch homicide detectives to Rivers State to investigate the killings in the state, alerting that the situation is getting out of hand and urgent steps ought to be taken.
Owuru regretted that Rivers youths have lost their bearing and are involved in killings, adding that people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed.
“This trend is capable of rubbishing the good image of Rivers State. It is regrettable that some of the youths who are involved in the act are unaware of the implication of what they are doing’’, he said.
