FRSC Seeks More Drivers’ Licensing Centres

The Sector Commander,
Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Imo State Command, Mr Peter Kibo, has called for the establishment of more Drivers’ Licensing Centres in states to ease congestion.
Kibo made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Executive members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council in Owerri.
He said that the two licensing centres in Owerri and Okigwe were not enough as they were always overcrowded by people who needed the services of the centres.
Kibo said that additional centres would not only decongest the existing ones but would ease and fast track the entire process of issuance of driver’s licence to the people in the state.
The sector commander said that already there was a memo for the establishment of more centres in the state, and gave an assurance to make necessary efforts to realise the dream.
On the proposed new driver’s licence, which should take effect in 2017 in the country, the commandant said that only those who obtained their driving licence certificate from driving school would be issued licence.
Responding, the Chairman of NUJ, Imo Council, Mr Innocent Igwe, thanked the commandant for the visit.
Igwe assured him of the support of journalists in ensuring they updated the necessary papers that would guide them while on the road.
