was delighted with his side’s response during the win over the Naze Millionaires
Sam Okpodu has praised his wards for the way they defeated Heartland in the week 14 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Oga Boys fought back from a goal down to earn a 3-1 victory over the Naze Millionaires at the Agege Stadium on Saturday.
The 3-1 result ended the Oga Boys’s poor record of eleven games without a win.
The visitors took the lead when Anthony Oussou headed home from close range, before Ikorodu United equalised through Merenini Junior before halftime.
Man-of-the-match Moses Ebiye tapped in after the hour to put the hosts ahead before Ifegwu Ojukwu struck a late spot kick after a red card to Zoumana Doumbia.
“It was a test for us to come from behind,” Okpodu told newsmen.
“There was a great mental response and there is a special solidarity in the team,” the former Super Falcons gaffer continued.
“You always worry because, no matter how long you are in this job, you never know what is next. The experience we had up front today (Saturday) helped.
“Our position doesn’t reflect our true performance. We would continue to fight till the end.
“I am very happy overall. The boys made me proud with the way they carried out the tactical plan,” he concluded.
