The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on all segments of the society to support the present administration in its task of developing the state.
Banigo stated this at the second session of the 22 Synod of Diocese of Niger Delta held at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
The deputy governor, who was represented by her Special Adviser on Security, Elder Emmanuel Ibama, noted that at a time when the funds of the state were declining steadily, the people should join hands with the government to move the state forward.
“I beckon on all the people of the state, to participate in building a glorious state for our people to benefit from the dividends of democracy,” she stated.
Banigo urged the church to teach morals to children as veritable tool for nation building, and pray for the physical and spiritual well-being of the state and nation.
She noted that the theme of the synod, ”Come and Let us Build”, was timely as the state government was focused on building a New Rivers State, and urged them to see the synod as a period of stock taking.
Earlier, Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta, Rev. Ralph Ebirieng, had lauded the state government for fulfilling its campaign promises to the people and for the developmental strides in less than one year in office.
In his sermon, the Guest Preacher, Rev. Edmund Akanya, who took his text from Nehemiah 2:17, said there was need for people to come together and build a better Nigeria.
