Awoba Vows To Win Brown Ideye Challenge
Awoba FC midfielder,
Otelemaba Dei’s well taken free kick helped his side to a win over Gold Kings Soccer Academy in the on-going Brown Ideye Soccer Challenge.
Awoba followed up their opening day victory over Rumuowha, with a 2-1 win over Gold Kings Soccer Academy in a well contested affair.
Speaking shortly after the game, Otelemaba was quick to point out that his set piece goal was no fluke but a product of hard work and dedication.
“It (free kick) wasn’t down to luck. It’s a natural gift from God. On a daily basis even if it’s during training, I do score goals like this. We’ve committed everything to God. Though every other team prays to God before coming, we however believe we will win this tournament.”
Coach Nelson Agi of Gold Soccer Kings Academy, informed that despite his team’s elaborate preparation ahead of the encounter it was totally a different game than what he had expected.
“The game was not as bad as most people would have you believe. I had watched their (Awoba)first game and as thus had strategized with that ahead of the encounter. That however is football. You don’t get what you expect.”
In the earlier match, Soccer Fire had beaten Rumuowha by 3-0.
