The All Progressive
Grand Alliance (APGA) in Rivers State has welcomed the decision of the Inspector General of Police to dispatch homicide detectives to Rivers State to investigate the killings in the state.
A chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prince Chioma Chinwo who stated this recently in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt also condemned the killings going on in some parts of the state.
Chinwo regretted that youths have lost their bearings by their involvement in killings, stressing that the presence of the homicide detectives in the state would stem the spate of killings in the state in recent time.
He regretted that youths have lost their societal values and norms as they are involved in killings without cause.
The APGA stalwart described the killings as barbaric and said the current trend is capable of rubbishing the good image of Rivers State.
He regretted that some of the youths who are involved in the act are unaware of the implication of what they are doing as he urged the homicide police to carry out thorough investigation so that innocent persons would not be victimized
‘’I welcomed the idea but they should do thorough investigation so that innocent people are not victimized. It should not be politicized. They should do the right things and should not be one sided. They should focus on their assignment and be transparent and get a good result for the people’’, he said.
He noted that the state has suffered economic and political setbacks because of the killings, adding that the state currently is without representatives at the National Assembly due partly to security challenges.
