Former Supporters Club
chairman of the defunct Sharks Fc of Port Harcourt, Minaiyo Igani, has expressed disappointment over what he described as unimpressive performance of Rivers United FC.
Rivers United was born before the commencement of this season after Rivers State government merged Sharks and Dolphins FC, with the view to have a stronger and formidable team that can achieve positive result, but before the merger, Sharks has been relegated to the lower division.
He stated that the club would not clinch any of the continental tickets if they continue with this poor runs.
Igani said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports at the weekend, in Port Harcourt, saying that the players have not displayed any quality performance.
According to him, we do not judge match by the number of goals scored, but by quality of play on the pitch.
“As a matter of fact I am not convinced they have good team, with this pattern they will not go anywhere, because the players are not co-ordinated on the pitch”, Igani said.
Consequently, the former supporters club boss called for total overhauling of the club, to enable the sponsors and supporters achieve their desired result.
“I am appealing to the state government, through the Commissioner for Sports, Hon Boma Iyaye to entirely overhaul the club in all departments. Let us call a spade an spade, when two strong teams were merged, we the supporters expected a stronger and formidable team”, he stated.
