Rivers Rerun Probe Panel Takes Oath
A seven-man judicial commission of inquiry has been inaugurated to investigate the violence that rocked the March 19 rerun state and National Assembly elections in Rivers State.
The findings of the judicial commission of inquiry will assist both the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government to come up with modalities to avert future electoral violence in the state.
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike during the swearing-in of members of the inquiry, urged them to ensure that the masterminds of the violence are brought to justice.
He charged the judicial commission of inquiry to complete its assignment and submit report within four weeks.
The Chairman of the commission, Justice Monima Danagogo, in his response, said the commission will discharge its duty without fear or favour.
He assured Rivers people that the commission would do a thorough job, and make recommendations that would ensure sustainable peace and security of the state going forward.
