The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has declared that the forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention holding in Port Harcourt in May will serve as a catalyst for the revival of the party and reclamation of power at the centre in 2019.
Wike, who is the chairman of the 2016 PDP National Convention Committee, at the inaugural meeting of the committee in Port Harcourt, said the convention will also set the party in motion to win more states during the 2019 elections.
He said the PDP national convention will also help in restoring confidence in members of the party that the PDP remains strong and viable on the security situation of the state.
The governor said Rivers State was peaceful contrary to what he termed propaganda being allegedly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its agents.
Prominent members of the PDP national convention committee, who were at the inaugural meeting include, the Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, Ahmed Gulak, Senator Sam Egwu, former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and former governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia.
