Resort Centre Boosts Tourism In Eleme

The tourism sector in Eleme Local Government Area has received an unprecedented boost following the establishment of the Lizpa resort centre to cater for the needs of tourist, residents of the cosmopolitan town that host the Eleme Petrochemical Company and other multinational and Allied companies as well as indigenes.
The resort centre which is under the flagship of the Chief (Engr.) Paul Obelley group is situated at a choice area of the city close to the Local Government Council Secretariat as well as the police headquarter in Eleme to ensure easy access of visitors to the centre as well as protection of lives and properties of the guests.
Speaking with the Tide Entertainment recently the project manager, Arch Emmanuel Adole disclosed that the idea of establishing the resort centre is to provide an alternative venue for people to relax enjoy themselves, eat good and hygienic food and interact among themselves as well as other benefits the centre offers. He said  the investment is aimed at developing the community instead of investing outside because they say charity begins at home.
The project manager also noted that the concept of the resort centre is to serve as a home away from home and offers different standard facilities at affordable costs to the delight of tourists as well as to serve as a haven for children and other categories of fun seekers.
According to him, the Afrocentic aspect of the resort centre talk about the cultural heritage of the Eleme people and to modernise it to a global market not only for the local populace but the international community. It is also aimed at showcasing the traditional beliefs, ethics, traditional structures, edifices, relics e.t.c which are the black heritage and pride of every African person.
The university of Jos trained architect and best corper in Rivers State 2003/2004 session enumerated some of the standard facilities in the center which include indoor games, children’s game hall, restaurant services, Continental/African dishes, lawn tennis court, A Gym, Cinema hall, karate kids clinic, exclusive lounge, bush bar, swimming pool, amusement park, conference hall, live band, administrative building, crèche, water fountain, parking space for 300 to 400 cars as well as 500KVA generator and 200 capacity hall among others.
He explained that the 2000 capacity hall will be used as the venue for the forthcoming Miss Eleme cultural/beauty pageant worldwide, and other events in the LGA. He stated that all these are geared towards developing the tourism sector in the LGA, generate revenue for the government and employment for youths.
