Make T/Tennis More Popular, Orok Duke Urges

Sports Commission, Orok Duke, in Calabar called on relevant stakeholders to make table tennis popular, universal and inclusive.
He made the call while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the celebration of the “World Table Tennis for All Day’’ by fans and stakeholders.
Duke, a former member of the House of Representatives, also urged Nigerians to play the game irrespective of age, gender, social status, culture and physical ability.
“I also urge that the sport should be used as a vehicle for social change, social inclusion and cohesion.
“This is because today is aimed at using table tennis to prevent youths from engaging in anti-social activities,’’ the Zonal Vice-Chairman (South-South), Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) said.
That the World Table Tennis for All Day was jointly set by the United Nations (UN) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Set as part of the International Day of Sports for Development and Pe ace, the day was set aside to celebrate the contributions and achievements of table tennis globally.
This year’s celebration marked the second anniversary of the “World Table Tennis for All Day’’, after the first edition in 2015.
